Patient collapsed after a procedure and we lost valuable time as we tried to get an IV access and it took 10 minute to one.
We made a mistake by not following one of “MUST” before any procedure.
Prerequisite for any procedures: Peritoneal taps, chest tube insertion, lumbar puncture, bone marrow aspirated and so forth.
2. Venous access
Procedures are for diagnostic and therapeutic purpose. Procedures also had serious of complications. We need to anticipated the potential complications. Venous access is important in term of patient developed complications post procedure. Monitoring – SPO2, BP monitoring, cardiac monitoring enable us to detect early complication and early steps can be taken.
